Admissions Course
Veritas Tutors is pleased to introduce its new Admissions Workshop for college applicants. Beginning in early September, this workshop will help applicants develop their personal admissions essays, supplements, and overall application narratives with a step-by-step approach taught through six weekly workshops.

- Do free write for question 1 in “Forming a picture of you”
- Exchange and discuss free writes
- Read and discuss “You’re saying what to whom? Knowing your audience”
- More free writes based on questions in “Forming a picture of you”
Session 4: Saturday, October 15 from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Your Narrative (Section III) part 1
- Read and discuss “The many pieces of the pie”
- Introduce writing exercises; complete a few together, discuss
- Read and discuss “Reading for Honesty”
- Guided overview of “How to write the personal admissions essay: a tutorial”
- Guided overview of “What you do and why you do it, redux: returning to the extracurricular essay”
- Guided overview of “Oh so many questions: the supplements”
Homework:

Your Narrative (Section III) part 2
- Look more carefully at “personal admissions essay: a tutorial,” “returning to the extracurricular essay,” “the supplements,” using students’ responses to accompanying exercises (see homework from Week 3 Day 1)
- Workshopping
Homework:
- Revise essays based on feedback
- write vignettes for at least 5 vignettable topics
Session 6: Saturday, October 29 from 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Wrap up (Section IV; Section V; College 101)
- Read and discuss “Plotting your narrative”
- Guided overview of “Beyond your control? Parsing the letter of recommendation”
- Homework: read two sections we had guided overviews of and do accompanying exercises
