The foreign language tutors at Veritas have all demonstrated their linguistic prowess by completing advanced coursework while living and studying abroad. Thus, they all have a facility with instruction which is vetted by a rigorous interview and ongoing evaluation process.
Whether learning the basics of conversation or engaged in advanced composition, you can find an expert language tutor at Veritas. We have experts in foreign languages from Ancient Greek to modern Romance Languages. Our language instructors are dynamic, knowledgeable, and most of all inspiring mentors.
Our tutors are also very familiar with common standardized subject tests such as Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and the SAT II’s and help their students learn how to master not only their subjects and their classes but also these often tricky exams that can determine college course placement and credit.
Languages offered: English as a Second Language (ESL), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.

Amanda G.
Amanda graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with high honors in Literature. Although her focus was dramatic literature, she also dabbled in American art history and literature, film history, psychoanalysis, European history, philosophy, poetic and theatrical translation. Since her graduation in 2006, she has tutored over 1000 hours in subjects such as SAT prep, AP Literature, and essay writing. As of September 2008, she has been the sole French instructor at Fisher College in Boston. She loves to learn as much as she loves to teach.

Lana L.
Lana was born in Ukraine, but moved during high school, which she finished in Germany. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College, majoring in Biology, with highest honors in the field. She is currently attending Harvard Medical School, where she is in her 3rd year of studies (aka long hours in the hospital) in the MD/MBA program. At HMS Lana served as a student member of the HMS Admissions Committee.

Kimberly F.
Kim is junior at Harvard and an honors candidate for a degree in Latin American Studies with a secondary in government. Kim graduated as salutatorian from her high school with ten scores of 5 on AP exams, which makes her a national AP scholar, and a GPA of 6.37 on a 6.3 scale. Kim tutored through the National Honor Society and taught science over the summer. Kim has tutored in many subjects including chemistry, biology, calculus, precalculus, geometry, SAT prep, ACT prep, and US history. Kim has also competed in over twelve science fairs including four regional and three state fairs, placing every year at the regional level and once at the state level. Kim has also received awards on the National Latin Exam and American Math Competition.

Peter J.
Peter has been studying and teaching Linguistics for the last seven years. Currently in a Harvard Ph.D. program, his research focuses on Southeast Asian languages, specifically Thai, which he speaks fluently. He also studies Moro, an endangered language spoken in central Sudan. Before transferring to Harvard in 2006, Peter studied Linguistics for two years at UC San Diego. Before that, he graduated from Dartmouth Cum Laude and with Honors with a degree in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. While ever the specialist, his curiosity keeps his interests varied from Logic and the Philosophy of Language to Anthropology. Peter loves to teach -- he has TA'd linguistics and German courses since he was an undergraduate and has tutored in various capacities throughout graduate school.
