Michael holds an A.B. cum laude, with High Honors in Economics, from Harvard. He received an overall grade of "Magna Plus" for his senior honors thesis, "Evidence for Preference Variation Based on Cue Exposure: An Empirical Analysis of Laibson's Cue-Theory of Consumption", and was awarded a mark of "Summa" on the Honors General Examination in Economics. He also holds an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he received a high "Merit" mark for his master's dissertation, "Coordination Failures and Business Groups".
