Ari studied mathematics at Harvey Mudd College and the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his Ph.D. in 2007, specializing in quantum topology. During his time as a graduate student at Berkeley, he won multiple awards for exceptional teaching. He has worked at Canada/USA Mathcamp, a summer program for gifted high school students, for more than a decade. Ari spent the 2007-2008 academic year as the math teacher for grades 6-8 at The Crowden School, a Berkeley school for musically talented youth. Most recently, he graduated from Longy School of Music with an MM in Historical Performance.
Ari spends most of his time singing Baroque music. When he is not working, he enjoys crossword puzzles, photography, graphic novels, and a variety of board and card games. He loves to cook, especially with his wok.
