Academic Biography
Ben grew up and went to high school in the Boston area, graduating from the Commonwealth School in 2005. After a year running a small catering company, Ben started at Harvard. He graduated in June 2010 with a degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences. His main academic interests are environmental science and chemistry, writing, drama, and the communication of science to non-scientists. In the fall Ben will be teaching for Harvard's newest Gen-Ed course, "Science and Cooking: From Haute Cuisine to the Physics of Soft Matter"
Personal Biography
When Ben isn't in school, he enjoys cooking, eating, watching sports, playing squash, and science fiction. On the weekends he turns his science background into the alchemy of mixing drinks at the American Repertory Theatre's Club Oberon.
- Ben's senior thesis on atmospheric bromine chemistry led to co-authorship on a paper submitted to Nature.
- Ben is a Teaching Fellow for Harvard's "Science and Cooking"
- Ben graduated from Harvard College cum laude in Earth and Planetary Sciences in 2010.
