Academic Biography
Bryan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in 2000 with a BA in chemistry. He spent the following 3 years working as a medicinal chemist at Chiron (now Novartis) where he worked toward the development of treatments for diabetes, obesity, and hepatitis C. Bryan is currently finishing up his PhD in chemistry and chemical biology at Harvard and preparing to go to medical school in the fall of 2010. While at Harvard he has had the opportunity to formally teach organic chemistry. Bryan has received numerous awards for teaching, including the Levenson memorial teaching award which is given to only one graduate student per year for all of Harvard University for excellence in teaching. Bryan loves teaching particularly in the small group setting. He has been tutoring organic chemistry for the past 11 years both as an undergraduate and graduate student and also enjoys tutoring biology and biochemistry. Outside of the classroom at Harvard, he is a non-resident chemistry tutor at Lowell House.
Personal Biography
Bryan was born and raised in southern Georgia and will always be a Southerner at heart. He loves doing just about anything that involves being either active and/or outdoors – sports, walking/hiking/exploring, biking, fishing.
